Active Release Techniques (ART)

Active Release Techniques (ART)® is a patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue and movement-based treatment that targets problems in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. When soft tissue gets overworked, whether from repetitive movement, an old injury, or too many hours hunched at a desk, it builds up tight, fibrous adhesions that restrict motion and irritate nearby nerves. ART locates that buildup by hand and works it out through a precise combination of tension and directed movement, treating the actual cause instead of just the symptom.

Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, Achilles tendinitis, and calf pain are just a few of the many conditions ART helps to resolve (usually as an adjunct to other therapies, like a chiropractic adjustment) quickly, often permanently. What ties them together is the same root cause: overused muscles that never got the chance to properly heal.

Dr. John is certified in ART for Full Body, covering the spine, upper extremities (neck, shoulders, arms, elbows, hands), and lower extremities (low back, hips, glutes, legs, knees, ankles, feet). Paired with his advanced training in extremity treatment, it means very few areas of the body are outside what he can effectively assess and treat.
